🚙 CIV Summer School 2026, Reunions in Miyazaki!

A week of lectures, a data hackathon, and some very welcome reunions at the 6th Summer School on Cooperative Interacting Vehicles!

CIV Summer School 2026

From August 31 to September 4, CIV 2026 brought together 38 participants from 19 institutions across five countries at the Phoenix Seagaia Resort in Miyazaki, the school’s first edition held in Asia. Five days packed with fourteen lectures on cooperative perception, motion planning, and data-driven methods, plus a hands-on data hackathon using real cooperative-driving datasets from Tokyo and Reims to hunt for risky maneuvers.

Old Friends, New Setting

The best surprise of the week had nothing to do with the lecture schedule. Among the participants were Daniel and Abhishek, old friends from my exchange semester at THI, and Prof. Arnaud, whom I had not seen in years. Catching up over V2X lectures instead of German coursework felt like a small time loop, and running into Prof. Tsukada in the same room made the whole week feel like a proper reunion rather than just another summer school.

Sharing My Work

I also presented my poster “Bridging the Gap: A Realistic V2X Simulator for Cooperative Autonomous Driving”, on integrating Veins into the Autoware stack for physics-based V2X channel simulation. During the group discussion session, I presented on behalf of our team, giving a short talk titled “From Talks to Traction”, a study for effective academic communication using CIV itself as the example.
